Problem with restricted profile stopping apps with IAP, can I get some help?

I've just bought my daughter a Hudl2 Android tablet and I want to use the restricted profile feature for two reasons: the child safety element; and so I can buy an app and have her use it through her profile.

The problem I've hit is that apps that have in app purchases refuse to work - whenever she tries to start one, we get an error message that the Play Store has stopped working. I'm assuming that apps that offer IAP need to connect to the Play Store but because access to the Play Store is blocked by default in restricted profiles, they can't do that so won't work (we've tried this with three separate apps so far with the same result).

This seems to me to be a fundamental flaw which is going to make the restricted profile feature pretty useless. I can stop unauthorised buying of apps and IAP by just password protecting my Play account so why not allow the access to it? (And giving access to the individual Play Games app hasn't solved this problem BTW).

The alternative is to give her a full profile using my Google account (but doing that gives her cart blanche access to all my Google profile as you can't password protect Gmail) or creating a new Google account (but doing that means basically giving her her own Gmail account which I don't want to do just yet).

Has anyone got any suggestions for a neat way around this?
